Buggyfit - Exercise with a Difference!

As featured on This Morning, ITV, The Times and Zest Magazine, buggyfit is the ultimate fitness class for new Mums wanting to get back in shape after their new arrival.

Exercise classes out in the fresh air with your baby or toddler in their buggy. Classes comprise power walking aerobic exercise, gentle stretches, muscular strength, endurance and toning, posture and pelvic floor.

We use parks and pathways around Cambridge and anyone can join in once they are 6 weeks post vaginal delivery, or 10 - 12 weeks post c-section. Mums with older babies and toddlers are welcome too - it doesn't matter how long ago you had your child, as long as they are happy to be wheeled around in a buggy! Double buggies are also welcome. We use whatever is at hand - steps, trees, fences, park benches, etc to exercise and have time to socialise too. Please get in touch prior to your first class.

HOW DO I JOIN BUGGYFIT?

Ensure that you have been cleared to exercise by your GP (usually 7 – 8 weeks following a vaginal birth and 10 – 12 weeks following a caesarean birth)

Download the health screening form from the website, complete it and bring it along to your first session.

    Please make sure you have given us your name, address, and telephone number in case we need to contact you.

     

     

    Frequently Asked Questions

    WHAT HAPPENS IN BAD WEATHER?

    We get wet!!  Just bring waterproofs and a change of clothes, and a rain cover for your buggy.

    WHAT DO I WEAR?

    Comfortable clothes which are suitable for exercise (preferably jogging bottoms and layers.  Please wear trainers.

    WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

    Sense of humour, gloves and hat / sunscreen and hat!!!  Plastic bottle of water, snacks for baby, health screening form and £5.  At Milton you will also need £1 for the car park.

    WILL ANY BUGGY DO?

    Yes, but we do find buggy boards unhelpful as they can encourage bad posture.  Bring your most robust buggy.

    CAN I BRING OLDER CHILDREN OR DOGS?

    Older children are welcome as long as they are in a buggy.  Unfortunately, whilst we love dogs, health and safety does not allow us to have them in our classes.

    MY MUM IS VISITING, CAN SHE COME TOO?

    Dads, Grannies, Grandpas come free!

    DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR A WHOLE COURSE?

    No. It’s Pay as You Go or you can purchase a pre-payment card and get a free session.

    MY BABY IS OVER A YEAR OLD – HAVE I LEFT IT TOO LATE TO JOIN?

    No – sometimes it takes a while to get around to thinking about yourself, so come along and do something for you!

    DO I HAVE TO BE FIT?

    Certainly not!!  Buggyfit is for everyone and we are used to weak pelvic floors (but we work on this), leaky boobs, and flabby tummies (but not for long!).  You are not alone and will be able to work at a level that is right for you!
